The Small Stories

A Girl and Blossoming Flowers

A young girl had planted a flower bush right near her porch. Gradually, very beautiful flowers bloomed. Looking at them every day, the girl felt immense happiness. She was also rearing a goat. Just as she loved the flowers, she also loved the goat very much. She took great care of it. One day in the morning, after watering the flowers, she tied the goat in the field to graze and went to school. During that time, the goat somehow got loose and ate up all the flowers. When she returned from school and saw this, she felt deeply saddened.

The Creeper Plant and a Weaver

One day, a maker/weaver built a window-like trellis or frame specifically to grow a pumpkin/gourd plant. After completing it, he felt very satisfied. He offered a prayer to God, wishing for the plant to bear healthy, abundant fruit.

Before returning, the maker noticed a wild creeper plant growing nearby. He warned the creeper, saying, "Your nature isn't good. I built this frame only for the pumpkin plant, not for you. If you climb onto this frame, I will chop you off from the roots."

The creeper plant ignored the maker's threat. Over the next few days, it rained heavily. Seizing the opportunity, the creeper grew rapidly and began climbing the frame. Within a few days, it completely covered the trellis.

For a while, the maker was busy with other chores. When he finally returned to the frame and saw the creeper completely taking over, he flew into a rage. In his anger, he ripped the creeper off and chopped it down from its roots.

A Fish, its Friends, and the Fisherman

One day, a school of fish was swimming back and forth in a lake. At that moment, one fish from the group spotted a piece of food floating on the surface of the lake from a distance. Its friends also noticed the food.

To eat the food, they began to race and compete fiercely with one another. Even after getting close, they kept jostling and fighting to grab it. The fish that had first seen the food managed to beat its friends in every way, quickly snatching and swallowing it down.

However, there was a fishing hook hidden underneath that food. The hook caught the fish, causing it intense pain, and suddenly, the fisherman pulled it up out of the water. The fish became deeply sorrowful, regretting its actions because it hadn't stopped to think before acting, while the fisherman was overjoyed to have caught the fish.

A Hunter, a Deer, and a Tiger

One day, a hunter went hunting in a very large forest. Seeing a deer in the forest, he started chasing it. Following closely behind the deer, the hunter unexpectedly encountered a very large tiger. As soon as the hungry tiger saw the hunter, it began to chase him.

The hunter could not run very far. He stopped, turned around, and fired a single shot at the tiger, but the bullet only grazed its body slightly. The shot tiger pounced heavily upon him, and a brief, violent struggle ensued between them.

In this manner, the hunter who had gone into the forest to hunt for deer meat ended up being eaten by the tiger instead. The tiger bit the man and ate his body until its stomach was completely full. Having tasted human meat after many years, the tiger felt immensely satisfied.
