Swmkhwr and Somaina
Swmkhwr and Somaina both are the servants of Sombaru. Both are active and the loved by all. Somaina become three years as maidservant of Sombaru. The owner don’t want to leave her from his house. In every year he increases her salary and take her home again. Somaina also did not want to go other proprietor. She feels that the owner loved like her parents. Same like her, Swmkhwr also serving since two years under Sombaru. The owner did not want to release him also. Swmkhwr is not like others servants. He is not like the normal servants of Hongla and Lorgo who waste most of time doing nothing. When they complete two doblai by plough then Swmkhwr complete three and half doblai. In making the ali, when other servants or farmers complete one, he can complete three and half. So, the owner Sombaru do not want him to release. It is true that since Swmkhwr come to Sombaru’s house, he has been staying with more happiness and peacefully. The owner did not order him by saying with loud words and hard words. The one pleasure thing is that since Swmkhwr as servant at his home, to store seeds of paddy he had to make one more store room.
The most women of village mentioned only the name of Swmkhwr while they they talk about the servants. When they talk about him, they must appreciate him. The people say, that, he is a good man, the lucky person, since he come to Sombaru’s house, the owner benefits become double. In any cultivation, the cultivation grows as better, the paddy become more seeds, tomato, papaya, pumkin, cucumbers all will have more fruits. Both summer and winter seasons, the owner woman sales the vegetables their daily local market, but she can’t finish. Sometimes, from somewhere the motors come to Sombaru’s house to take his vegetables by pay. Swmkwr is a servant, but some women want him to make their son-in-law secretly.
They are good enough to everyone. The time flies over us. They spend their quality time under their owner Sombaru. The owner never wanted to release them, they also do not want to go somewhere by left from his house. But the people of village’s jealous about them at the end after appreciate a lot. The servants both worked with full day daily, they have no quarrel and feeling pain with each other. Some people start to think wrong about them. Some people start to discuss create mistakes about them.
One day, the women of village named Rwimali, Temphali and Anari talking about them while they are eating Nareng jumbra khaji. They are talking about people accidents was happened, old and latest mistakes. At this time, the old woman named Rwimali said about Swmkhwr and Somaina.
“I feel that they are behaving like wife and husband. They do the anything work together with hard work. I think, may be they love each other…. If they are loving each other, we do not allow to leave our village. We must marry them and release from our village. If our children see someone romance they behave, then our children will follow them. It is not good to allow doing romance, they do the bad things and make the village infamous in society, the family also will be infamous. If will infamous in family, they can’t show their face and the family become backward.”
The old woman Menli also gave her view.
“We have to look them carefully. It is not good to allow their romance. If we hear about their such act, it is good to catch them and give their marriage immediately.”
The some people of village follow them secretly, if they gets their doing bad things they will catch them at the spot and release from the village.
One day, the season was mid-winter. After the dawn, Swmkhwr get up from bed and went to agriculture field to plaugh. He do the work giving his good mind. When the breakfast of morning is get ready, then the Somaina went to give breakfast to Swmkhwr. At this time, In the forest, the Alera bird chirping, the Alera and humming birds chirps mostly in this season. When we hear the chirping of the birds we feel good our heart and joyful. Somaina said after giving the breakfast to Swmkhwr.
“What we have to make curry for today?”
“What are vegetables that brought the owner yesterday?”
“Where he brought vegetables? He went to the pharmacist only. He is still now facing with illness.”
“I had seen growing some mushroom last day in the forest. We can make today’s launch with the mushroom.”
“Wow! The mushroom is so tasty vegetable. I like it most. But I’m afraid to go in the forest to pluck mushroom.”
“So, let us go. I will help you.”
Swmkhwr finished eating rice and go with Somaina to help her to pluck mushroom. When they went to the forest the one wood cutter named Rangkhw had seen them. He come back to village after seeing them and told among people. After the hear that Rangkhw said, the young people of the village go to the forest holding sticks on their hands. When Swmkhwr and Somaina return from the forest holding mushroom, they catch them, start to beat them and hurt. After the giving such a punishment they bring them in village and organized a meeting.
After the hearing few words about the accident happened in the forest the village headman asked to Swmkhwr.
“It happen very shameful. As a human being of society, you are not like the animals. How is it possible dear my boy? I have never thought about you that you never do like this. But you people done such a bad things. You made our village infamous one.”
Swmkhwr replied to him taking his condition with very soft voice.
“We have not done any wrong that the people think like…. We went to the forest only to pluck mushroom.”
A angry boy of village said against the Swmkhwr very loudly.
“The nonsense telling a lies. He must be punished again, then he will speak the truth.”
The village headman again asked to Somaina.
“It is true or fales dear my girl?”
“It is wrong dear uncle. We have done bad things is none. Brother Swmkhwr only went with me to help me to pluck mushroom. We had nothing vegetables to make curry in home so we went in the forest to pluck mushroom.”
An old woman said about her with loud voice.
“She is telling a lies. She is so shameful girl that she can go in the forest without fear to pluck vegetables. I have been seeing her morality since last many days. Yes, it is true that she is a girl of bad character.”
Another woman said by standing.
“She is telling lies. Give her to eat none cooking rice and will be prove that it is true or fales.”
One old man said.
“Why it is important to eat none cooking rice? Beat them at least three times again, they will speak the real.”
The two boys start to beat them again three and four times with stick. Somaina start to cry with loud voice. One boy slapped her again hardly, and he said.
“Speak the truth as soon as possible among the people, look it, otherwise I will break this stick on your back.”
Somaina so afraid more than before. If say yes, there will be release for that, if say no, then it will be continue her punishment, she think like that. It is true that she loves Swmkhwr very secretly. If I say yes, may be the villagers make our marriage accordingly. So, Somaina think to say ‘yes’ about the accident.
“Please do not beat me again. Respected village headman! Yes, it is true that the doing bad thing was happened in the forest.”
After the hearing few words which have said by Somaina, an old woman come nearest and slapped her. The old woman hold her hair and try to shake, she then said again.
“You are a liar. Now you said the truth. Why have you telling lies so before?”
Swmkhwr doen’t speak anymore. If he is say no, no one will believed him again. Saying liar like that people use to beat and slapped him as they wish.
The village headman stopped them. As he stopped the people, they stop their violence on Swmkhwr and relaxed. The village headman take decision about Swmkhwr and Somaina that they done bad things, so they have pay 5001 rupees per for the law of village, In the name of them, the village must organize a festival of purifying the village. After all, they have to marry each other, and the village will release both of them.
By wrong decision of the village, they left from the village. They have to take unworthy name, and stay each other just like wife and husband. They have been staying long days under on room like wife and husband, but they have not any physical relationship. They been living ashamed of each other. After the long days pass, one they Somaina said to Swmkhwr.
“Please forgive me! I was afraid that day, that, they will beat me again, so that I said yes wrongly, I think that they will not do against me if I say so. In one side, I was truly loved you secretly, so wanting you I said the words. But I have done a big mistake and become sin myself for that. I have been giving you so painful feelings. After the marriage gave by them, we are not still wife and husband. Today I feel ashamed on myself. I’m a criminal. I’m going to the forest and will suicide by hang myself. The crows and eagles can eat my hanging death body. Please forgive me before my death!”
After the hearing Somaina’s words Swmkhwr gets so hurt. He gets more pain than before. He then looks on her face with crying tears and said.
“I forgive you. But please don’t die. There is nothing criminal work than doing like that. If you truly love me, I will accept you as a wife. How much obstacles come in our life we manage it together. As we can, we will make our life beautiful and peaceful family.”
Somaina then become happy after hearing his appreciation. She removed her tears from eyes and respect Swmkhwr holding his legs.
The years pass continuously. They have two sons and two daughters. There is no crisis of eating and drinks. Those who do the task they don’t have crisis on food. They forgot the accident happened in the past. When the past remained they don’t think about it again. They sent all their children in the school to learn and take quality education. Their children knows that the parents are illiterate, so they take quality education with challenge and good mind. All the children become successful in life in their own career with their hard work one by one. The eldest daughter become a school teacher, the second daughter become nurse, the eldest son become a army and the youngest son become a professor.
The people of village use to talking about them when they get time to talk during party, group discussion and public work. They are appreciate them after talking about the morality of Somaina and Swmkhwr’s children. All the members of their family are not bad. In conversation, behaves with others and relationship are must appreciable. The society must learn from them a lot. Sometimes the people use to talk about the past of Swmkhwr and Somaina. Now they are know the real that they were hurt by people wrongly when they were servants. They were gave marriage by the people of village and release from the villagers blindly. With her fear Somaina wrongly said yes about the accident was happened in the forest which was truly did not happened with them.
