Nileswar Brahma (1927-1986)

Nileswar Brahma was an Indian Bodo-folk singer and lyrics. He was born in 1927 at Goibari village of Gosaigaon under Kokrajhar district. He sung the first song 'Nai Nai Mor Priya Je Nai' in 1948 with All India Radio, Kolkata. The romantic song lyrics were penned by the Bodo poet and politician Samar Brahma Chaudhary.

He published his book of poetry and lyrics named 'Balabganwi' in 1950. The Bodo Publication Board under Sahitya Sabha published his book 'Balabganwi Boroni Khonthai Methai' in 1993.

Nileswar Brahma take his musical degree at Lucknow Bhatkhande Music College. He recorded his first Gramophone Bodo song in 1951 at HMV Record Company, Kolkata.

Nileswar Brahma was the lifetime member of All India Radio, Guwahati Audition Committee. He was the founder and General Secretary of Amritpur Brahma Sewashram, Gosaigaon.

The legendary of Bodo songs Nileswar Brahma breathed his last in 1986. He is known as Jwhwlao Nileswar Brahma.

Some of his famous songs are including Bifangao Bananwi, Bibari Mwnbari, Gwsw Khangnai Janayao, Mwnhang Mwnhangwinw Mwnnw Thanga, Honwi Sanjaha.
