Living A Comfortable Life
It is a matter of many years later. Due to a major natural disaster, it became an island in the middle of the Bay of Bengal. It is an island of great beauty and abundant flora and fauna. The island has unique flora and fauna that are not found in any other forest in the world. Botanists have got this information from some tribal people living in that area.
The island itself is known to have a dense forest cover where not a single animal or insect can survive. But no one has been able to tell till date what is the reason for the animals not being able to live in this forest. Anyone who goes to this forest can never return home. Hence, no one ventured into this forest area. No one wants to go there.
One day, four research scholars from the Department of Botany, Bodoland University visited the island to study the plants. They set sail for the Bay of Bengal, landing on the island. This is where they walk along the seashore to stay for a few days. They began to investigate and study many plants. They are very eager to go to the wilderness known as Gilubalu (Dangerous).
One of them, a student called Gwjwnthao, spoke up.
“Fear is not the greatest thing in life. How long will our future generations live in fear if we live in fear? We should think that any work should be done easily for our coming future generations. It is better that we move on leaving fear behind. This is how success or victory can be achieved.”
The explorer named Derhasar has also said this.
“If you come here to explore, you must do so. One has to return from this place with some unique sample.”
One of their friends said.
“Death is a matter of luck. We may not be dead. No matter what kind of wildlife survives, it is a forest that must be explored.”
They packed their clothes in bags and carried them on their backs. Everyone took their camera by the scruff of the neck. They have marched towards the forest with their unending courage.
It is very dense and has unusual vegetation. The beauty and fragrance of the perennial flowers of the plants cannot be overstated. They were amazed to see this. Endless happiness has come. They captured these beautiful images with the help of a camera. It is a very cold forest. The more one enters the middle of the forest, the colder it becomes.
They seem to be very relaxed. Pulling the bag tied on their backs, they put on the clothes after extracting heat from it. Feeling that his cold was unbearable, Derhasar said.
“I felt so cold and cold that I couldn’t bear it. Such a cold overnight will be fatal.”
A friend of theirs named Dwimasa said.
“It is advisable to collect the branches and leaves of the tree and light a fire for a while. Let’s spend a night doing this.”
They started the fire by collecting dried leaves and twigs of the tree as much as they could but some of the leaves did not even burn. Collecting many dry leaves, they started a fire. Unwilling to do so, they spent the night in extreme poverty.
The next day, they continued their advance. Feeling extremely cold and breathless, they thought it best not to venture into the forest. But due to the extreme fog, they found the opposite way back. Suddenly, they saw a huge tree in the middle of the forest. It is the largest tree in the forest. Each of its branches is a stunningly beautiful wandering fruit. The shape is similar to the ripe apple fruit of Kashmir. Inside and around it are numerous deciduous trees and beautiful unmarked trees.
They were also hungry for rice, so they rushed to eat the fruit of the tree. When they reached out their hands to pluck the fruit from the tree, the fruit moved upwards and fell. The explorer named Gwjwnthao was watching the friends from a distance when he was surprised to see that his friends had been lifted up.
He looked up and saw the bones of countless corpses. Very thick and dark branching leaves. He heard his friends screaming at the top and thought they could not come down. It is an extremely carnivorous plant. This tree may be the reason why animals do not survive in this forest. It feeds on insects. It is the most endangered giant tree in the forest.
Frightened, Gwjwnthao took a few steps back. He hurriedly reached a coastal area and met a few locals there and explained everything. He broke the news of the loss to his friends.
The villagers started moving towards the forest with sticks and rosewood to cut down the tree. This way when they come under the tree, the fruits of the tree start to wander down. People have thrown people upside down if someone extends a hand to pluck the fruits. Even if they scream a thousand times, they cannot return to the bottom. Seeing this, people started cutting the fruit of the tree.
As the fruit ripens on the ground, the plant begins to grow very fast and moves towards the sky. Within a short period of time, the plant begins to wilt, bearing heavy fruit. The fruits ripen in about an hour. People were surprised to see this. They are too scared to fight this tree. Later, the happy one brought the fruit of the tree in his bag.
The people have returned to their homes and Gwjwnthao has taken leave of them and returned home to Bodoland. When people enquired, he told them about the tragic death of his friends. The news spread all over the world through newspapers and social media.
The explorer is amazed he has brought the fruit of the tree to a laboratory. Experiments have been carried out on the properties of fruits and plants. What is the power of this fruit? Can this fruit provide any value that humans need? Thus, the experiment is still going on.
