The Death of a Tragic Old Woman
There was an old woman in a village. Her husband had died of old age a few years ago. Twenty years before her husband passed away, their two sons drowned while going to the river to catch fish. The old woman had to spend many days and nights alone with all her tragic memories.
She had been living alone for a long time. The villagers were all busy with their own families and didn’t know what kind of life the old woman led.
Once, the old woman raised a lot of chickens. A few people from the village noticed her birds, and they soon started stealing them. The old woman was deeply saddened by the loss. Despite the repeated thefts, she received no help or protection from anyone.
One day, the old woman sat huddled in the chicken coop, waiting for the thieves to come in the middle of the night. When the thieves tried to steal the chickens, she confronted them. Fearing capture and trial by the villagers, the thieves killed the woman and left.
